Brasilian Literature and Sociolinguistics
Portuguese Linguistics, Language Policies, Sociolinguistics, History of the Portuguese Language, Translation studies, Portuguese and Brazilian Literatures. This is the range of research activities of prof. Mulinacci.
Professor Roberto Mulinacci research mainly concerns Brazilian Literature, in particular the work of Joao Guimaraes Rosa, Machado de Assis (and, more generally, the urban novel of the Nineteenth Century) and the Arcadia ultramarine.
At this literary tradition, he has added in recent years, Linguistics studies on the Portuguese of Brazil, to which he has devoted various educational courses at University of Bologna.
The main focus is on Portuguese contemporary sociolinguistics.
These two field of studies happily coexist with his activity as translator of Brazilian authors (Guimaraes Rosa, Ruy Castro).
- he is member of the Editorial Board of "Caligrama. Revista de Estudios Romanicos" of the Faculdade de Letras of the UFMG
- Prof. Mulinacci is also member of the Editorial Board of "Cadernos de tradução", a journal devoted to the UFSC Translation Studies and of "Traduzires", journal of translation studies at the University of Brasilia.
- Prof. Mulinacci is carrying on several research projects with colleagues in the Pos-graduaçao Estudos em tradução from the UFSC, where he regularly lectures and holds mini-seminars.

- Unversity of Santa Catarina current scientific collaboration with the research group of Pós-graduação em Estudos da tradução, among which prof. Andréia Guerini (Director of Cadernos da Tradução), prof. Walter Costa e prof. Marie-Hélene Torres.
- Unversitade de Brasilia, current scientific collaboration with prof. Marcos Bagno on the sociolinguistic of the Brazilian Portuguese.

- From 13 to 24 May 2013, Prof. Marcos Bagno, from Universidade de Brasília, Departamento de Línguas Estrangeiras e Tradução, gives some lectures in conjunction with the courses in Brazilian and Portuguese linguistics and Literature by Prof. Roberto Mulinacci.
