VITEBIO

Development of sustainable management strategies for vineyard ecosystems.

Unibo Team Leader: Adamo Domenico Rombolà - PhD, Researcher - Prof. of Viticulture - Department of Fruit Tree and Woody Plant Science

The project has been financed in the framework of the Regional Project  "Sviluppo di tecniche colturali in viticoltura biologica e biodinamica" (Development of Cultivation Techniques in Organic and Biodynamic Viticulture)  by means of the "Centro Ricerche produzioni vegetali"  (Center for research and vegetal production) (Tebano, Ravenna, Italy).

The development of ecologically and economically feasible agronomic strategies for improving plant nutrition and health as well as fruit quality represents a priority in the fruit and wine industry and a motivating investigation area.
In the past years many experiments have primarily focused on improving plant nutrition of crops by intercropping and other sustainable strategies.
In Viticulture, increasing scientific attention has been devoted to the impact of water and plant nutrients (eg. Nitrogen, Silicon, Iron), soil and canopy management/training systems on plant susceptibility to abiotic stresses, berry physiology, fruit quality and healtness.
Research activities focused on organic and biodynamic cultivation method, plant and rhizosphere biochemical and physiological processes by the conduction of experiments under field and controlled conditions.
