Unibo Principal Investigator: Prof.  Roberto Vecchi, Dept. Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures - LILEC

In the last years, Europe and Brazil have enhanced their cooperation through a strategic partnership that founded new institutions such as the IBE (Institute for studies Brazil Europe). One of the main problems that the new mutual links have been arising is the difficulty to define common semantic patterns to sustain new initiatives, not only in humanities but in many other sectors.

For these reasons, the elaboration of a shared Conceptual Euro-Brazilian Lexicon (CEBRAL) which may define intercultural and interdisciplinary differences through a double, bilateral perspective is a priority of both the parts. The lexicon is not only the output of the research, which will be initially structured through a new specific web platform, but, in another level, it aims at defining new strategic and common frameworks on crucial topics dealing with cultural specificities.
Examples which can be taken into account are conceptual and complex signifiers such as Multiculturalism, Public Space, Human Rights, Work, Body, Health, Violence, etc. that are deeply conditioned by historical, ideological, cultural factors.

A common dialogical research in Cultural Studies porous area may provide the Euro Brazilian partners with effective key tools to promote e reinforce in a next future the two way cooperation.
The research unit is composed by senior UNIBO researchers in different fields with integrated Cvs, strongly oriented to the construction of the CEBRAL: Roberto Vecchi (Brazilian Cultural Studies and Cultural Theory), Giuliana Benvenuti (Cultural and Comparative Studies), Valeria Babini (Philosopher), Lara Michelacci (Literary and comparative Studies), Roberto Mulinacci (Brazilian Linguistics).
The team is integrated by other Post Doctoral researchers: Riccardo Stracuzzi, Luca Bacchini.
