Medicine of the University of Bologna respectively from March
16, 1977 to July 31, 1980 and from August 1, 1980 to November 13,
1987.
Associate professor of Internal Medicine of the University of
Bologna from November 14, 1987 to October 31, 2001.
Full professor of Internal Medicine of the University of Bologna
from November 1, 2001 up to now.
Director of an Internal Medicine Unit of the University General
Hospital S.Orsola-Malpighi of Bologna from September 2000 up to

Director of the postgraduate School in Geriatrics of the

Principal research fields:
1. Employment of ultrasonography
and echo-Doppler to the study of various pathologies in internal
medicine and geriatrics.
2. Functional, metabolic and
instrumental changes in the aging process.
3. Studies on physiopathology and
treatment of portal hypertension.
4. Study and definition of the
functional and instrumental parameters which may contribute to
define the prognosis in patients with liver cirrhosis.
5. Hepatocellular carcinoma:
epidemiology, natural history and treatment.
6. Prognostic factors in
Stroke.
