Curriculum Vitae
Daniele Caretti was born in 1962, graduated with honors in 1986 in
Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna and in 1990
received the title of “Dottorato di Ricerca” (PhD) discussing a
thesis entitled "Synthesis and characterization of polymeric liquid
- crystals".
Subsequently, he worked in the field of photoinitiators for
polymeric materials at the Department of Industrial Chemistry and
Materials of the University of Bologna, in 1991 became Researcher
in Industrial Chemistry and in 2004 Associate Professor in the same
subject.
The researches of Daniele Caretti have always been related to
macromolecular chemistry partecipating on research projects funded
by RFO MURST, PRIN, CNR, European Union and FIRB.
This activity is evidenced by 78 papers published in international
journals, 42 poster or oral presentations in International
Conferences and 86 at National ones.
The scientific interests of Daniele Caretti are mainly the
synthesis and characterization of functional polymers, including
liquid-crystalline polymers, optically active, photoresponsive and
photoreactive polymers, conducting polymers, organometallic
polymers and polymers for biomedical applications.
Daniele Caretti has also worked on researches commissioned by
companies like INVER spa (BO), Synthec (CN), MIT Hydrocarbon
Processing, Enichem Elastomers, Aussapol, Ghimas, Poliolchimica,
Chemia, Ciba Speciality Chemicals, Procter & Gamble and
Sacmi.
He is a referee for journals in the field of macromolecular science
like Polymer, European Polymer Journal and Material Science and
Engineering.
The teaching activity, which he carries out since 1996, includes
mainly courses and exams regarding different aspects of Polymer
Science and was performed predominantly at the Polo Scientifico
Didattico di Rimini. This activity also includes the preparation of
about 60 Theses as main- or co-tutor as well as 6 Doctoral Research
Theses in Industrial Chemistry. Daniele Caretti has received two
letters of congratulations from the Rector of the Bologna
University for the outstanding quality of the lessons offered to
students.
He has also held some lectures abroad or during International
Conferences.
Since 2008 he is the Head of the Center for Service and Library of
the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna
and the Vice-Head of the Department of Industrial Chemistry of
Materials at the same University.
In addition to scientific and educational activities Daniele
Caretti has carried out intense efforts in supporting the
collective scientific activity, for several years was a member of
the Giunta (Executive Committee) of the Faculty of Industrial
Chemistry at the University of Bologna, for several years
represented the Associate Professors in the Polo Scientifico
Didattico di Rimini and is part of the School for PhD in Industrial
Chemistry at the University of Bologna.
Daniele Caretti is also member of excecutive commettee of the
Association of Science and Technology of Macromolecules (AIM) since
2006, he became its secretary in 2008 and is currently its
President for the next three years.
Daniele Caretti is a member of the Italian Chemical Society, the
Italian Association of Science and Technology of Macromolecules and
the American Chemical Society.
