the North-East Atlantic, the Mediterranean and Connected Sea
Tsunami Warning System (ICG/NEAMTWS), which is the subsidiary
body of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO)
responsible for the coordination of the efforts to implement the
Tsunami warning System in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
Since November 2009 he is co-chair of the Working Group 4
“Public Awareness, Preparedness and Mitigation” of the ICG/NEAMTWS.
Since April 2011 he is President of the Natural Hazards
Division of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).
Since 1987 is a member of the International Tsunami
Commission, founded in 1960 by the International Union of
Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) to study tsunamis.
From 2002 until 2008 has been one of the
Editors-in-Chief of the journal Physics and Chemistry of
the Earth, published by Pergamon Press.

Observations) financed by the European Commission. The project
(1996-1999) was a continuation of the activities undertaken in the
project GITEC with a slightly modified partnership.
