Curriculum Vitae
Professor Roberto Farne', graduated
cum laude in Education
at the University of Bologna in 1974. He worked for ten years as
both a teacher and a cultural operator and in 1983 he was appointed
Research Professor at the University of Bologna, Department of
Education. In 1998 he was appointed Professor in Didactics and
started to teach “General Didactics” at the University of Bari and
Bologna, Department of Education. Actually he teaches "Pedagogy of
play and sport" in the course of degree of Phisycal Education and
Sport Sciences.
His fields of research (both at an empirical and a theoretical
level, all documented by several publications) concern mostly the
connections between education and media; the culture of childhood
with a special focus on the extra-school and play/game processes;
the questions of aggressiveness and conflicts in the educational
field.
He took part in several joint research projects involving RAI
(Italian National TV) and the University of Bologna;
specifically, he worked on problems concerning the relation between
children and television, and on the analysis of various children TV
programs.
He serves on the scientific board of
Encyclopaideia, rivista di

pedagogy and training), issued by the University of Bologna (

Movimento, rivista di Psicologia e Scienze del Movimento e
dello Sport;

de estudios de comunicaciòn y ciencias sociales, and he is director
of "Infanzia", journal of Studies and Experiences on early
Childhood Education (
www.rivistainfanzia.it).
From 1997 to 1998 he took part in two research groups working on
the status of childhood and teen-agers in Italy, co-operating in
the writing of several relevant reports. These projects were
commissioned by the Centro Nazionale di Documentazione e Analisi
sull'Infanzia e l'Adolescenza (National Centre for Documentation
and Analysis of Childhood and Teen-agers), under the Department of
Social Affairs of the Italian Governement.
Since 1998, within the co-operation in force between the Department
of Education of the University of Bologna and Walt Disney Italy, he
works as a consultant on educational projects and publishing.
In 2003 Roberto Farne' won "Lo Stilo d'oro", National Award
"Raffaele Laporta" on Pedagogy, for his book
Iconologia
didattica. Le immagini per l'educazione dall'Orbis Pictus a Sesame
Street", Zanichelli, Bologna.
From 2007 to 2012 Robeto Farné has been Director of
Sciences of Education departement, University of Bologna. Now is
vicedirector of the department of Quality of Life
Studies.
